Our next step was to cut the headphones away from the cable to expose the bare wire underneath.
Given our luck, our headphone wires looked different than the ones in the youtube video we were referencing. 'No big deal', we thought. We would follow the same steps (connecting two wires of the exposed cable while it was plugged into the camera) and see if it worked.
It didn't.
We spent the next hour trying to narrow down the problem. Did we have the wrong cable? Was the cable broken? Was it a problem with the adaptor? Is this camera even compatible? All great questions that we didn't have answers to.
As a study break we decided to drive down the the nearest Timmies to pick up our double-doubles and iced coffees. We checked the map and found a dollar store nearby. Promising.
At the dollar store we found an aux cable that was thicker than the one that was attached to the headphones. We bought it in a last ditch effort in hopes that it would work, and allow us to possibly finish the project that night.
Also, look at this cute dog that was at the register:
We got back to the library, exposed the cable, and tried the same process with the new cable. This is what happened:
Success. Now onto wiring the cable to the Wii remote; another challenge.
